Microsoft Dynamics NAV 5.0 SP1 for W1

A lot of changes , bugfixes etc but what I like is some improwments for SQL i.e

- SIFT including Indexed Views - Microsoft Dynamics NAV now uses "Indexed Views" to maintain SIFT totals

- Bulk Inserts - Microsoft Dynamics NAV automatically buffers inserts in order to send them to SQL Server in one go. By using bulk inserts, Microsoft Dynamics NAV reduces the number of server calls thereby improving performance. Details are in the changelog

WMI problems

It's been a long time since my last post :) anyway I had a lot of problems with WMI and Reporting Services

so I'd like to share a bit of knowledge . On 2 servers I had the some error after every restart message " "WMI has encountered a problem and needs to close" comes up .

Solution:

For Windows Server 2003

Use the following command to detect and repair a corrupted WMI Repository:

rundll32 wbemupgd, RepairWMISetup

   (geospatial,geometry Spatial type are cool:) STDistance )

   (indexing strategy: depth first strategy,breadth first strategy)

   (filegroups CONTAINS FILESTREAM,sp_filestream_configure,PathName)

Table-valued Paramters , merge etc.

Summary:) a lot of new stuff to learn :)

Best Practices Analyzer January 2008

January 2008 release of SQL Server 2005 Best Practices Analyzer includes new rules for AS and can detec issues with design of your cubes.

The January 2008 package alse contains:

    * BPA UI and command line tools
    * Rules (previous rules + ~60 new rules)
